Beyond Events: Hidden Gems &
Local Favorites for Silicon Valley
Not everything worth doing this week has a ticket or a start time. These are the village downtowns, garden estates, scenic trails, and design-forward corridors that Silicon Valley locals genuinely love — anytime, any day, across Los Altos, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, and beyond.

Downtown Los Altos Village
A tree-lined grid of boutiques, cafés, and independent shops with genuine small-town energy — tucked right in the middle of Silicon Valley. Main and State Streets feel a world away from the office parks just minutes away.

Hakone Estate & Gardens
One of the oldest Japanese-style residential gardens in the Western Hemisphere, hidden in the Saratoga foothills. Koi ponds, a hillside tea house, a bamboo garden, and maple-shaded paths make it a serene escape most valley residents have never visited.

Saratoga Village
A storybook historic main street nestled against the wooded foothills — wine tasting rooms, destination restaurants, antique shops, and tree-canopied sidewalks. It reads more like a wine-country town than a Silicon Valley suburb.

San Pedro Square Market
A buzzing food hall and outdoor plaza in the oldest part of downtown San Jose, with dozens of vendors, craft bars, live music, and the historic Peralta Adobe tucked alongside. It's the most energetic, hidden-in-plain-sight corner of downtown.

Stevens Creek Trail & Cuesta Park
A leafy creekside trail that threads quietly through Mountain View — connecting shaded neighborhoods, Cuesta Park's lawns, and eventually the baylands. Most commuters drive right past the green corridor running alongside them.
